NCERT Class 6 English book has changed, now children will also study the use of spices, know what has changed

Class 6 English Book 2024 NCERT: NCERT Class 6 English book has been changed. NCERT has brought a new book of Class 6 English named ‘Poorvi’. National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2023) This book has been made according to the new NCF 2023. While the old book had stories by foreign authors, this new book emphasizes on Indian culture, tradition and knowledge. At the same time, most of the stories in the new NCERT English Book Class 6 are by Indian authors and are based on the Indian environment.

NCERT English Book 2024 Class 6: What will the children study?

In the earlier book, there were 8 poems which were written by foreign authors. Whereas in the new book, there are 5 foreign poems. All the other stories and poems have been written by Indian authors. What is there in the book that children will read now?

• Stories by writers such as Sudha Murthy and SI Farooqui are included.
• There is a chapter named ‘Health and Wellness’ in which yoga is also explained.
• The word ‘Bharat’ has been used for the first time in the new book. In the chapter titled ‘Culture and Tradition’, both the words ‘Bharat’ and ‘India’ have been used. In this chapter, ‘Bharat’ has been mentioned 19 times and ‘India’ has been mentioned 7 times.
• There is also a section in this chapter titled ‘Our India, Incredible India!’, in which only the word ‘India’ is used. In this section it is written, ‘India is known as the land of intelligent and brave people… All these things show that India is prosperous and respected all over the world.’
• In the chapter titled ‘Nurturing Nature’, there is a section titled ‘Spices that Heal Us’, which explains that spices can be used not only in food but also as medicine. In this, an example of a letter written by a grandmother to her grandchildren has been given. In which she has explained the benefits of different spices.

NCERT Class 6 New Books: Social Science, Science, Maths still missing

This year, NCERT is changing the books of class 3 and 6 based on the recommendations of NCF 2023. The book of class 3 came in April-May. But the first book of class 6 has just come, that too only in English and Hindi. When studies have already started.

However, the books for other subjects like Social Science (SSc), Science and Mathematics (NCERT Maths Book Class 6) are not ready yet. Till these books are ready, schools have been asked to teach through ‘Bridge Program’.
