NCERT Books on Amazon: Education Ministry signs agreement with Amazon, now get NCERT books at home

Amazon NCERT MoU 2024: Books of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) can now be ordered from home. This initiative of the Union Education Ministry will provide great relief to the students and parents who face many problems like shortage of books, fake books, buying books at more than the fixed price. Original books of NCERT will now be on e-commerce platform. An important agreement has been signed between NCERT and Amazon Seller Services Private Limited in this regard.

Announcement by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan:

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was present on this occasion, made a big announcement and said that this year NCERT will publish 15 crore books, which will be three times as compared to earlier. Currently about 5 crore books are published every year. he/she said that NCERT is bringing new books on the basis of National Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE) made for school education under the National Education Policy 2020 and now books will be available even sitting at home. Books will be made available at MRP in about 20 thousand pin codes across the country.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that NCERT has been publishing textbooks since 1963 and so far a total of about 220 crore books and journals have been published. Now every year three times more books will be published than before so that the common people do not face any problems. The prices of NCERT books will also not increase.

Now NCERT books are being taught on a large scale in the country. Many state boards also use NCERT books. Also, under the new education policy, new NCERT books are being brought from beginning to class 12th. Pradhan said that NCERT is a major think tank for the country.

Remote students will be able to buy NCERT books:

Through Amazon’s network, students and schools, even in the most remote areas, will be able to purchase textbooks at fixed prices. The Education Minister has described NCERT’s partnership with Amazon as an important step. he/she said that NCERT has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing textbooks of the 21st century.

Emphasizing the importance of making the learning process easier for the 300 million students of Amrit Kaal, he/she also called for focus on creating e-books that are AI-powered, with innovations like talking books. he/she said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given directions to pay special attention to getting books prepared in Indian languages ​​and books are being prepared in all 23 languages. Books will be the real soft power of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar said that textbooks constitute about 96 percent of the total book sales in the country, which should be made available through e-commerce platforms like Amazon to increase access for students. NCERT textbooks for all grades will be made available on the Amazon NCERT Storefront (http://amazon.in/ncert), which was also launched today.

Textbooks will not be retailed at a price higher than the printed rate. Only original NCERT textbooks will be available for retail sale on this platform, which will help curb the sale of pirated NCERT textbooks. Amazon will help NCERT to monitor and catch unauthorized sellers who distribute fake or overpriced books.

On this occasion, Joint Secretary in the Education Department Prachi Pandey, Director of NCERT Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Amazon Vice President Saurabh Srivastava, Amazon Public Policy Director Aman Jain and senior officials were present. Officials said the agreement will also enable NCERT to leverage customer reviews and feedback to improve the quality of its textbooks and other educational materials.

Further, anonymized sales and usage data will be shared with NCERT to facilitate decision making regarding future printing orders, distribution strategies and selection of new distributors in states/districts where demand for NCERT textbooks is high. Is more.
