When 10 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forested and hilly area of ​​Bhandarpadar village, about 10 kilometers south-west of Bhejji police station area of ​​Sukma district. These include three women. In this joint operation with CRPF and District Reserve Guard (DRG), this is the second major success for the security forces in seven days after the killing of five Naxalites on November 16. So far this year, 257 Naxalites have been killed in encounters.

Security agencies had received input from Naxalites

Sources in security agencies said that in the matter of Naxalites, input was received that Naxalites of Konta and Kistaram Area Committee may move from Orissa to Bhandarpadar, Korajuguda, Dantepuram and Nagaram areas of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. Acting on the intelligence input received, siege was started in this entire area of ​​Bhejji police station area. At around 9 am on Friday, the security forces came face to face with the Naxalites. There was heavy firing from both sides. Later, during the search operation, security forces found bodies of 10 Naxalites. Some Naxalites managed to escape.

Security forces achieved great success

Sources said that in August this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced that the country will be made Naxalite free before March 2026. The security forces have achieved great success in this direction. Security forces have recovered one AK-47, one INSAS rifle and one SLR from them. Officials said that since January this year, 257 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters. 861 Naxalites were arrested and 789 surrendered. Officials say that a maximum of 1005 people and security forces were killed in Naxalite attacks in 2010. This has reduced by 90 percent by 2024. The toll of deaths so far this year is 96. After 2022, this is the second time in 40 years that the number of deaths has been below 100.

14 top leaders of Naxalites were killed

Officials also said that 14 top leaders of Naxalites have been killed in the anti-Naxalite operation. Security forces are going into the Maoist strongholds and eliminating them. The security grid has been expanded by 279 new camps since 2019. Earlier on November 16, five Naxalites were killed in Naxal affected areas of Narayanpur and Kanker districts of Chhattisgarh.
