Nawazuddin Siddiqui had to wear a heavy police uniform, Hindu Committee got angry – the image of the force is being tarnished.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has asked to take legal action against Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Ankur Singh, owner of online gaming platform ‘Big Cash Poker’. Reportedly, the organization claims that the actor, playing a police officer in a recent advertisement promoting a gaming app, has allegedly defamed the Maharashtra Police. The controversy comes after an advertisement of Big Cash Poker, in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui is motivating people to play poker on the app by posing as a Maharashtra Police officer. According to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, their doing so is harmful to the image of Maharashtra Police as it links law enforcement with gambling. In the complaint, Abhishek Murukate of the organization pointed out the issue in a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Director General of Police. The letter demands strict action against both Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Ankur Singh under Maharashtra Civil Services Rules 1979 and Maharashtra Police Act 1951.

Question raised on police uniform

In its letter, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti expressed concern that such advertisements could promote illegal use of police uniforms. The organization also said that the police have been shown to be associated with things like gambling. It weakens the hard work and dedication of the force.

KBC 16: Gujarat’s Harsha could not answer the question of Rs 25 lakhs, talked about Mother Earth, told that people make fun of her

‘Why are the police themselves silent?’

Murukate further said, ‘Maharashtra Police is trained hard but this advertisement is showing that they are also told about online gambling. It is sad that no police officer has been forced to take action against this application and it is unfortunate that complaints have to be made by others.

The committee reached the police and minister

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has not only reached out to the police but has also asked Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to intervene in the matter. The organization hopes that the Minister will take cognizance of this issue and ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent such acts in future.
