National Education Day Facts: India celebrates National Education Day every year. This day is celebrated in the honor of the first Education Minister of the country. he/she was also the youngest president of the Indian National Congress. his/her leadership abilities and thinking have also played a big role in shaping modern India. he/she played an important role in the establishment of institutions like IIT and UGC. 11 November is the birth anniversary of Maulana Azad.

  1. This day is celebrated to remember the contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as the Education Minister. In 1920, he/she was selected on the committee to establish Jamia Millia Islamia in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
  2. Later, Maulana Azad played an important role in transferring the university campus to New Delhi in the year 1934. Today, the main gate of the complex is named after him/her.
  3. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a scholar, freedom fighter and educationist. he/she played an important role in the establishment of IIT and UGC. he/she played the role of a major architect in shaping independent India.
  4. As the first Education Minister of India, she focused on providing education to the rural poor and girls.
    Maulana Azad’s priorities included promoting adult literacy, ensuring free and compulsory education for all children up to 14 years of age, diversifying secondary education with an emphasis on vocational training and expanding universal primary education.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s contribution went far beyond the freedom movement. his/her vision for an educated, secular and unified India continues to guide the country even today.
