Nasirabad: BYC demonstrated against forced disappearance of people by Pakistani forces


Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on Friday demonstrated against the continuous disappearances of people by Pakistan Armed Forces under the banner of “Breaking the Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances” in Nasirabad district of Balochistan.

BYC Nasirabad Zone started the protest from Baldiya Ground and marched towards Allahwala Chowk.

In a post on Twitter, BYC said, “As part of BYC’s ongoing campaign, “Breaking the Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances”, a protest rally was organized by BYC Nasirabad Zone today. The protest, which The objective was to raise voice against the oppression, genocide and forced disappearance of the Baloch people, starting from Baldiya Ground and continuing till Allahwala Chowk.

BYC organized a peaceful protest rally to raise their voice against the harassment, but they were stopped by Pakistan Armed Forces before reaching the Press Club.

The protesters highlighted that the police threatened, harassed and ultimately attacked them while attempting to disperse the crowd. However, the participants raised slogans against the authorities and called for the return of the allegedly abducted people.

BYC further said, “Despite threats from the local police, who attempted to stop the protest and used force to disperse the participants before they reached the Press Club, the protesters continued the march, despite police action.” Raised slogans against and demanded the release of all Baloch. On Thursday, a similar protest took place in Nokundi, Balochistan, where protesters showed photographs of the victims and demanded their immediate release. Residents joined the protests to support their families and loved ones. Despite continued harassment by the armed forces, the protesters stood in solidarity.

BYC has so far organized protests in Karachi, Hub Chowki, Khuzdar, Turbat, Panjgur, Kharan, Quetta, Nushki, Dalbandin and Chagai.

Pakistan Armed Forces have used violent measures to quell protests, but Baloch people continue to speak out against enforced disappearances by Pakistan police forces.
