Nana Patekar was a part of the Kargil war, narrated his/her experience and said- he/she can do this much for the country


Actor Nana Patekar has been a part of the film industry for 46 years and has played many memorable and powerful characters so far. Apart from Hindi, he/she has also worked a lot in Marathi cinema. But do you know that Nana Patekar has also been an Indian Territorial Army officer? Nana Patekar recently revealed that he/she was also a part of the Kargil war. Very few people would know this. Nana Patekar played the role of Major Pratap Chauhan in the 1991 film ‘Prahaar’, but in reality he/she has been a part of the Indian Army and has served it. You will be surprised to know that Nana Patekar took a break from acting for some time during the Kargil war, and joined the Light Infantry Regiment as a Major. Not only this, he/she participated in many state and national level competitions as a shooter and also won medals. Nana Patekar was recently asked about his/her work during the 1991 Kargil War in an interview with ‘The Lallantop’.

‘I will not go into politics’

When asked if he/she had ever thought of joining a political party, he/she said, “I cannot be a part of it because I am outspoken. I say what I want. This time too I was asked, but if I call the party chief mad, he/she can expel me from the party.”

Nana Patekar stayed with the soldiers, trained with Maratha Light Infantry

According to a 1999 report in ‘India Today’, Nana Patekar stayed with the soldiers for a fortnight and travelled with them from one place to another. Not only this, Nana Patekar also took training from the Maratha Light Infantry for the film ‘Prahar’.
