  • Many films have been postponed before this, know what experts say about this
There is a hot discussion in the film world that superstar Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2′, which was postponed from its release date of August 15 to December, will not be released this year. Earlier, the reason for this was the incomplete VFX work of the film, but now many other reasons are being discussed. Earlier, big films of South Cinema including Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ have also been postponed. At the same time, the release of Junior NTR’s ‘Devra’ and Chiyaan Vikram’s much-awaited film ‘Thangalan’ has also been postponed several times. If we talk about Bollywood, then in the year 2023, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Jawaan’ was postponed from June to September at the last moment. Of course, due to the postponement of big films at the last moment, not only those films but also other films get spoiled.

‘So the fans get confused’

Film industry experts say that no other big film is released a week before and two weeks after the release of any big film. In such a situation, if the release date of the film is postponed at the last moment, not only does it leave a three-week release window on its current release date vacant, but the release dates of other films also have to be postponed at the time it is postponed.

For example, before the release of ‘Pushpa 2’, the release date of ‘Singham Again’ was postponed. But now many films are releasing on 15 August instead of ‘Pushpa 2’. ‘Pushpa 2’ has reached the release date of ‘Chhava’ in December. If it is released on time, then the release date of ‘Chhava’ can also change. Similarly, last year, due to the postponement of the release date of ‘Jawan’, cinema owners had to suffer losses in June. Due to its release in September, the release date of ‘Fukrey’ had to be postponed. Of course, postponing the release date of films does not have a good effect on those films themselves. Film industry experts say that changing the release date of films repeatedly creates confusion among fans. In fact, posters with the old release date of the film are also present on the Internet. Many times fans consider them to be correct.

‘There is no trust in VFX’

Talking about the losses incurred due to postponing the release date of films, producer and film business analyst Girish Johar says, ‘Postponing the release date of a film increases its cost. Also, other films also have to bear losses due to it. Actually, any big film needs a release date on which it gets a big release window. Due to there being only a few big release dates in a year, big producers book those dates for their films well in advance. But then many times their production is not completed by that date, so the release date of the film has to be postponed, due to which everyone suffers losses.’

Thangalan

he/she further said, ‘Anyway, nowadays VFX is being used a lot in films. But if you do not update the two-three month old VFX, then it starts looking old. Actually, nowadays people have started watching content from all over the world on OTT. In such a situation, the director faces the challenge of presenting the latest VFX to the people.’

‘Postponement spoils the maths of other films’

Trade analyst Komal Nahta said, ‘Most of the big films get postponed due to incomplete VFX work. Of course, nothing can be said about VFX. Its two-day work can take two months. Whereas the producer fixes the release date of his/her film much in advance. Therefore, it is no one’s fault if the film gets postponed due to incomplete VFX work. However, this definitely spoils the release schedule of other films.’
