Movie Review: This poor ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’ is hit by confusion

Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao made their debut in the year 2003 with the film ‘Ishq Vishk’. The new style of college romance, new faces, melodious songs and Shahid’s amazing dance made the film a surprise hit. Now after 21 years, the same makers have come up with ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’. Two new faces Pashmina Roshan and Jibran Khan have entered the industry with this film. It was being said that this time the film focuses on the love of today’s Gen Z generation with online dating, but in reality it has remained just a love story of confused youth.

Story of ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’

The story is about three friends from Dehradun – Raghav (Rohit Saraf), Sahir (Jibran Khan) and Sanya (Pashmina Roshan). ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’ Movie Review

In the film, Raghav is a writer, who is writing the story of his/her ‘Ishq Vishk 2.0’ for the film, but is confused about the climax. The same thing applies to the real writers of the film as well. Directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, this film is interesting till the first half. Sahir and Sanya’s funny way of convincing each other, Raghav being sandwiched between these two, Raghav sharing his/her confusion directly with the audience through the camera seems refreshing. The dialogues also tickle, but in the second half, after the tension in the relationship of these characters, their journey does not reach the right conclusion.

After the interval, it seems that everything has been wrapped up in a hurry. For example, it is not clear when Raghav really feels love for Sanya. A great scene comes when Sheeba Chaddha explains the meaning of the activity of Raghav’s parents playing games with each other. This is a big revelation for Raghav who thinks his/her parents are a happy couple, but he/she does not even try to know the truth from them.

Talking about acting, Rohit Saraf is the soul of the film. he/she is a natural actor. he/she looks cute on screen too. he/she has handled the film well. Apart from him/her, Nayla’s acting is also good but her scenes are limited. More or less the same is the case with the character of Jibran who was a child artist in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’. However, Jibran has also played his/her role well. But Hrithik Roshan’s cousin Pashmina Roshan has not been able to take advantage of this opportunity. Her facial expressions look the same most of the time. She will have to work hard to move ahead.

Milind Jog’s camera has beautifully shown the valleys of Dehradun. Songs like ‘Soni Soni’, ‘Rahmat’, ‘Ishq Vishk’, ‘Chot Dil Pe Lagi’ composed by Rochak Kohli have already become popular among the people, so you can watch this romcom once to pass your time.

Why watch- A light-hearted romcom and Rohit Saraf could give this ‘Ishq Vishk’ rebound a chance.
