Movie Review: Sonakshi Sinha and Ritesh Deshmukh’s ‘Kakuda’ raises expectations but disappoints

After the bumper success of the horror comedy genre’s superhit film ‘Stree’, the Indian film industry has found a new formula for success. While the makers of ‘Stree’ have prepared to create its entire universe, many other films are also coming on this formula. The film ‘Kakuda’, which was released directly on OTT this week, also follows the same formula and tries to scare you as well as make you laugh.

The story of ‘Kakuda’
This film is the story of a town in Uttar Pradesh. Due to a strange belief, the houses there have two doors. One of normal size and one of small size. It is necessary to keep the small door open every Tuesday at 7:15 pm. Actually, during that time a ghost named Kakuda comes there. If someone’s door is found open, then Kakuda makes him/her his/her prey and that person dies on the 13th day.

Sunny (Saqib Saleem) and his/her father, who live in the village, like other villagers, do not forget to open the small door for Kakuda every Tuesday. But one Tuesday, Sunny becomes a victim of Kakuda because of his/her girlfriend Indira (Sonakshi Sinha). Troubled Indira calls her ghost hunter friend Victor (Riteish Deshmukh) to deal with the problem named Kakuda. Can Indira, along with Victor, save Sunny from the clutches of Kakuda? To know this, you will have to watch the film.

‘Kakuda’ movie review

Aditya Sarpotdar, director of the surprise hit film ‘Munjya’ which released in theatres last month, chose a fun subject of horror-comedy to make the film. The film initially gives hope of following the fun path of ‘Stree’. There are many things in it which remind you of ‘Stree’, but unfortunately the story and screenplay of the film derail very soon.

‘Kakuda’ does not have the humour and fun like ‘Stree’. The film disappoints you especially in the second half. While the climax of the film is also not entertaining.

Talking about the acting of the actors, Sonakshi Sinha has done a decent job in her role. But Saqib Saleem and Ritesh Deshmukh have not been able to bring life to their roles. The rest of the actors did not have much to do in the film.

Why watch- If you are a fan of horror comedy films, then do not expect much entertainment from this film, but yes you can definitely watch it once.
