Movie Review: ‘Devra: Part 1’ is a visual treat for fans of Junior NTR and tremendous action.

For a long time, fans were waiting for Junior NTR and Saif Ali Khan’s Jugalbandi film ‘Devra: Part 1’. Director Koratala Shiva, on the lines of the films made in South with well-known actors, ‘Devra’ also has good company, mother’s emotion, feeling of revenge, double role of father-son, a captivating song, full of exciting action scenes. Like it is decorated with spices, but a weak story ruins the story.

‘Devra: Part 1’ Movie Review

Director Koratala Shiva spends a lot of time in developing the story and characters. The first half of the film is spent in establishing the story. The screenplay lacks tightness. Repetition is also visible in some scenes. It seems strange for the police team that came to find the terrorists to get lost in Devra’s story. But the choreography of the film’s action sequences should be given full marks.

The stakes of the action give goosebumps. The clash between Jr NTR and Saif is exciting. Renowned cinematographer Rathnavelu creates a wonderful cinematic experience with his/her artistry. The smuggling scenes and fight sequences in the sea are no visual treat for the audience, but the VFX of the film are weak. The length of the film also bothers you and the story becomes predictable.

In terms of music, only one song ‘Dheere Dheere’ has become visible. The climax of the film has been left with an unanswered question on the lines of ‘Why did Kattappa kill Bahubali?’, the answer to which will be seen in Part-2.

In terms of acting, Junior NTR has worked hard in the double role. he/she appears strong as Devra, a brave protector and possessing leadership qualities, but Devra seems to be overshadowed by Vara’s innocent and timid character. Saif Ali Khan as Bhaira has proved to be strong in a negative role, but his/her role has not been properly developed.

Despite being the heroine of the film, Jhanvi Kapoor got very little screen space. She is limited to just one song and a couple of scenes, but she has added colors to the glamor and romance section. Prakash Raj has done a memorable job as always. Murali Sharma remains memorable in his/her character. Zarina Wahab is impressive in the role of mother. Srikanth has done a good job in the role of Raiappa.

Why watch- Fans of Junior NTR and lovers of action films can watch this film.
