Movie Review: Dedh Bigha Zameen

Filmmakers often present a world of fantasy in the world of cinema, the reasoning behind which is that people like to see things different from real life in films. But on the other hand, cinema is also called a mirror of society. Therefore, if the problems of real life are portrayed on the cinema screen, then the common man also feels connected to it. The film ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’, which was released directly on OTT this week, is also a similar story.

Story of ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’

As the name suggests, the story of this film revolves around ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’. The main character of the film, Anil Singh, is a wheat trader in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Due to the death of his/her father long ago, it is Anil’s responsibility to get his/her younger sister married. he/she arranges his/her sister’s marriage in a decent family. To raise a large amount of dowry, he/she decides to sell his/her 1.5 bigha land, which his/her father had bought several decades ago. The property dealer tells him/her that his/her land is illegally occupied by an MLA, but instead of getting disappointed, Anil decides to fight the system. Is he/she able to marry his/her sister by fighting against the system? You will have to find out this only after watching the whole film.

The climax shakes you up

The director of the film, Pulkit, is also its writer. he/she has beautifully brought to the screen a painful story written on a sensitive subject. The screenplay of the film is tight. This nearly two hours long film does not bore you anywhere and comes to the point right from the beginning. The characters of the film start feeling like your own from the beginning. The story becomes even more exciting after the interval. Overall, this film makes you feel the helplessness of the helpless common man in front of the cruelty of the system. The climax of the film shakes you to the core.

movie cast

If we talk about the acting of the actors, then Pratik Gandhi has done a wonderful job in the film. In every frame, he/she makes us feel the challenges of the common man struggling with the system. After the ‘Scam’ web series, Pratik has once again shown in this film how capable an actor he/she is. The rest of the actors have also done a good job according to their roles. If you want to watch good cinema at home this weekend, then this film will not disappoint you.
