Movie Review: Dangerous, fierce and strong action saved Siddhant Chaturvedi-Raghav Juyal’s ‘Yudhra’

Story of ‘Yudhra’

Yudhra (Siddhant Chaturvedi) has a tragic past. Because of this, he/she is full of anger. he/she has become a person who looks angry all the time, somewhat crazy. Nikhat (Malavika Mohanan) is his/her childhood love, Yudhra finds solace in being close to her. But something happens in the story that Yudhra gets entangled in the criminal activities of a drug cartel. This entanglement leads him/her to a shocking truth.

Yudhra’s character has a strange love for lizards. he/she is calm one moment and furious the next. But he/she has a good heart. Siddhant Chaturvedi has played this angry young man’s role very well. he/she is a playful action hero who, despite his/her innocent child-like face, fits the role of an angry young man. he/she may not look dangerous, but he/she is definitely powerful. Yudhra gets dangerous adversaries in the form of drug mafia Firoz (Raj Arjun) and his/her son Shafiq (Raghav Juyal), who take the story forward.

‘Yudhra’ movie review

Raghav Juyal once again makes a mark in a negative role. After playing a dangerous character in his/her last release ‘Kill’, he/she once again gives a great performance. he/she has also emerged as an actor who knows how to play a crazy character. Ram Kapoor as a suspicious police officer and Gajraj Rao as Yudhra’s father have done their job well.

The USP of this film or should we say the backbone of it is its action, which impresses you. The action sequence filmed between Malavika Mohanan, Siddhant and Raghav in the music store in the film is excellent. Apart from this, the bicycle parking scene is also hair-raising. Action director Nick Powell, who is famous worldwide for his/her work in ‘Gladiator’, has done a great job on the film. his/her action choreography is thrilling. This is the strongest aspect of this intense but entertaining story.

While watching the film, you appreciate the neurotic world building and the unique background score. However, the story lacks emotion. Though the poster of the film gives you the impression that it is an old school crime drama, in reality ‘Yudhra’ is far from that. We have seen that the angry young man characters on screen before have had a rebellious reason to be angry. But ‘Yudhra’ shows that even with aimless anger, a film can make its mark. However, at times its eccentricity seems incomprehensible.

The first part of the film moves forward rapidly. There is a twist in the story. But after the interval, that atmosphere is not created. While watching the film, you feel that it will reach the peak of excitement, but it does not happen and this is disappointing.

Director Ravi Udyawar has made violence and action the language of his/her film to show the impact of anger. The style and stunts in the film are excellent, but it strays in terms of story. The characters have been crafted very skillfully. Siddhant and Malavika look very good, but there is a lack of chemistry between them.

Be it ‘Bloody Daddy’, ‘Kill’ or now ‘Yudhra’, it is good to see that Bollywood is also focusing on full action. But yes, there should be no lack of emotions in this action and this is what weakens ‘Yudhra’.
