More than 10,000 devotees celebrate the ‘Patsav’ before the Bap Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi


More than 10,000 devotees visited the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, to celebrate the first ‘Patsav’ of its inauguration anniversary. A series of grand ceremonies, prayers and cultural performances were held to mark the occasion.

Patotsav is an auspicious date under which holy traditional rituals and ceremonies are invited to honor and celebrate the anniversary of the temple’s Pranas, which is anointed by the gods in the central temple.

According to a press release, the morning started the day before dawn as hundreds of devotees and volunteers arrived at 4 am on Sunday to prepare for Mahapuja.

In a press release, a volunteer, Jigisha Joshi, explained his/her enthusiasm to offer service so soon in his/her weekend, “I have the opportunity to serve my community and offer devotion to this beautiful temple. By serving, my way is to thank God.

More than 1,100 participants prayed their prayers with deep devotion at 6 am in this divine ceremony. According to the press release, Mahapuja was actually a unique experience, a mixture of technology and spirituality, displays various rituals with special estimates on the recession, enhances devotional experience for all attendees.

Connecting the vibrancy of the ceremonies, Maharashtra’s Nashic Dhol team gave a powerful performance and welcomed his/her energetic drumming and welcomed Lord Swaminarayan’s procession from the Maha Abhishek of Mahadhari, the procession of Lord Swaminarayan, the release said.

A special text ceremony was held from 9 am to 11 am in the Grand Assembly Hall, where the verses were chanting the birth anniversary of BAPS founder Shastriji Maharaj. The congregation of more than 2,000 people also honored UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his/her vision in promoting the land of love and harmony.

During Sunday, the celebration was mesmerized in music and traditional dance performances, which is deeply inherent in the ancient art of Natia scripture, enticing the audience. The event performed 19 different demonstrations, including 224 participants. The audience was thrilled by the rendering of Madhurashtakam, Mohanyattam, Kuchipudi with traditional Marathi, Odissi, Bengali and Bharatanatyam dances.

As soon as the sun set, Swaminarayan Ghat turned into a vibrant stage for one evening of cultural splendor. Connecting the sanctity of the occasion, Aarti was done at 6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm. The first Pattav not only celebrated the BAPS Hindu Temple Abu Dhabi’s milestone anniversary, but also confirmed its role as peace, faith and cultural unity in the region.

The head of Baps Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi, Brahmavihari Swami concluded the day with special blessings, “Baps Hindu Mandir has seen the love, hope and unity filled with his/her first year. It has won awards for its architectural splendor, but its most impressive achievement is that it continues to bring together all the backgrounds that inspire an inclusive and harmonious society. According to the press release, one and all can fill their lives with love and unity.

Brahmavihari Swamy thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, accepted his/her generosity and unwavering support. he/she appreciated all those who contributed to the BAPS Hindu Temple Abu Dhabi to make a reality, which brought this spiritual landmark into life, emphasizing collective efforts.

On 14 February last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Hindu temple, BAPS Temple at Abu Dhabi, UAE. The temple was inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. he/she prayed in the temple and performed Aarti.
