Modi government got Congress out on ’99’ with a three-pronged attack on emergency? Understand the strategy

New Delhi: Om Birla started it as soon as he/she became the Speaker of Lok Sabha. Then the President and Vice President made Congress lose its cool on the Emergency. They are playing on the narrative of ‘victory of the Constitution’ Rahul Gandhi And this is BJP’s answer to his/her Congress party. The post of President is that of the protector of the Constitution. If the President himself makes a statement on the Constitution, then naturally it will have the highest recognition. When Her Excellency Draupadi Murmu condemned the imposition of Emergency by trampling the Constitution in her speech, one can easily imagine how uncomfortable the Congress must have been. Congress, which was itself cornered in its strategy of cornering the Constitution, also got a big shock from the statements of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. While approving the President’s speech, Vice President Dhankhar also mentioned the murder of the Constitution during the Emergency. The President, Vice President and Speaker, in a way, read the speech written by the government. The President keeps saying ‘my government, my government’ throughout the speech. What could be a bigger opportunity for the Modi government than this! It adopted the strategy of ‘triple attack’ to make the Congress groan on the Constitution. On the pretext of Emergency, there was a three-pronged attack on the Congress by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the President and the Vice President. The Congress party is trying to show as if Modi and BJP have lost and the voters have accepted Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister. This aggression of the Congress was also seen in the Parliament when it put a condition of giving the Deputy Speaker’s post to the opposition for consensus on the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. In this game of political maneuvers, BJP was not going to step back. It also left no stone unturned in making the Congress bold at the beginning of the session itself.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Congress had its worst performance, winning only 44 seats. Next time in 2019, it increased its seats by only eight and was reduced to 52. This time when it got 99 seats in the 2024 elections, its morale reached the seventh sky. This was indeed a big achievement. Adding the seats of the last two times, it would have got 44 + 52 = 96, but this time it got three more seats than this. That means it is slightly more than the performance of the last two times combined. Encouraged by this, the Congress party kept the campaign to save the Constitution a big political issue. But, to tear the Congress to shreds, the BJP is mentioning the attack on the Constitution 50 years ago from every platform.

Statement by the President

In fact, BJP hopes to isolate Congress in India Block on this issue. Emergency is such a weak point of Congress that it can easily create a rift in the opposition and in this matter, even some of the current allies of Congress will not miss the opportunity to criticize Congress, even if in a low voice. A proof of this was seen in Lok Sabha on Wednesday itself when the speaker was condemning the Emergency. At that time, Congress MPs were standing and raising slogans, but the MPs of the allies sitting next to them supported the government by maintaining silence. MPs of parties like SP, TMC, TDP remained seated on their seats due to which Congress members were feeling very uncomfortable.

Statement by the Vice President

First, in the 2015 Bihar assembly elections, the fear of changing the constitution was shown. Fearing the end of reservation, voters went against the BJP. The same tried and tested trick proved to be successful in this Lok Sabha election, especially in Uttar Pradesh. BJP gave the slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ in the Lok Sabha elections. In response, the opposition created doubt in the minds of voters that this time 400 Paar is needed because BJP wants to change the constitution and changing the constitution means ending reservation. This narrative of the opposition reduced the seats of BJP by half in the country’s largest state. Naturally, the opposition, which has been successful in increasing its seats by chanting the constitution, is quite excited. The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi have made ‘Save the Constitution’ a sure shot formula to corner the government. Rahul expressed gratitude to the voters for making the opposition stronger than before and emphasized that finally people have united to save the constitution. Then he/she started shouting in such a way that now no one can tamper with the constitution. Till here it was fine, when the entire opposition led by Rahul raised the issue of constitution in the parliament, the government also got into a counter attack mode. Now the result is in front of everyone.
