Modi Government 3.0’s 3 decisions and objections on all three! Has ‘Modi’s Hanuman’ Chirag Paswan changed?

New Delhi: What chirag paswan Has Chirag now adopted the role of ‘Lakshman’ from ‘Hanuman’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi? Looking at the last few steps of the president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), it seems that Chirag, along with five MPs of the party, is playing the role of checkmate of the Modi government. Chirag is a minister in the Modi government and it seems that he/she is now influenced by the ‘power of Laxman’ instead of ‘devotion to Hanuman’. Chirag now asks questions and not only this, he/she also opposes the decisions of his/her own government. The journey from Hanuman to Laxman is the saga of Chirag from staying away from power to becoming a partner in power. The question is whether Chirag’s character has really changed after joining the government?

Now has Laxman become Modi’s Hanuman?

On June 9, 2024, when Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third time, Chirag Paswan also became a part of the cabinet for the first time. PM Modi made Chirag Paswan a cabinet minister. Chirag was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Food Processing which his/her late father Ram Vilas Paswan used to handle. Well, it is not hidden from anyone that after the death of father Ram Vilas Paswan, JDU, which was an ally of BJP, had spoiled the game in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. Chirag did not field his/her candidate against a single BJP candidate and kept saying without hesitation that he/she is Hanuman of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held Chirag Paswan responsible for the loss of seats of his/her party JDU and complained strongly to BJP. Due to this, BJP could not stay with Chirag Paswan for long even if it wanted to. Despite this, Chirag remained firm on his/her stand and kept calling himself Modi’s Hanuman from time to time.

Now Chirag is included in Modi cabinet

When the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place, Chirag returned to the NDA. On the lines of ‘Raat Gayi Baat Gayi’, Nitish also forgot the setback given by Chirag in the elections and moved ahead and took up the election front with the NDA. Now both Nitish and Chirag’s parties are part of the Modi government. When 12 MPs from Nitish’s party came to the Lok Sabha, Lallan Singh and Ramnath Thakur were given ministerial posts. At the same time, Chirag’s party, maintaining a strike rate of 100%, managed to send all five candidates to the Lok Sabha. Being the head of the party, Chirag himself joined the Modi cabinet.

Three decisions of Modi 3.0 and opposition to all three!

Modi 3.0 government has just completed three months and Chirag has objected to three important decisions. When the Modi government presented a bill curtailing the unlimited powers of the Waqf Board in the first meeting of Parliament, Chirag told reporters while coming out of Makar Dwar – Our party wants that the bill should first be sent to the parliamentary committee. Earlier, his/her MP Shambhavi Chaudhary had raised a finger at the Supreme Court’s decision in which the country’s top court gave the states the right to sub-classify castes in the SC-ST category. Then Chirag held a press conference and said that his/her party does not agree with the Supreme Court’s decision, so a petition will be filed in the court to review the decision. Then came the turn of recruitments through lateral entry in the Central Secretariat. Chirag Paswan openly said that his/her party is not in favor of recruitments through lateral entry without reservation. JDU also took the same stand.

Recruitment through lateral entry and Chirag’s concern

Actually, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had issued advertisement on 17th August for recruitment on total 45 posts. Under this, applications were invited from experts of various fields under lateral entry system. Other opposition parties including Congress party opposed not following reservation process in this recruitment. Modi government, which suffered a big blow on the issue of reservation in Lok Sabha elections, wrote a letter to UPSC Chairman Preeti Sudan on 20th August to withdraw the advertisement. Modi government does not want the issue of reservation to be handed over to the opposition.

Understand the journey from Hanuman to Laxman

This is what haunts Chirag Paswan as well. The 2015 Bihar assembly elections must have inspired Chirag to be vigilant on the issue of reservation. Then, in an interview, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had only said that according to the spirit of the Constitution, the time has come to review the reservation system. BJP had to face defeat in the assembly elections. Perhaps this is the inspiration for Chirag to transform from Hanuman to Laxman – no compromise on issues like caste politics, reservation.

After all, Hanuman Chirag’s Ram Modi is also doing the same. That is why all the three issues of Chirag’s objections have been resolved according to his/her wishes. The Wakf Amendment Bill has gone to the Parliamentary Committee, the Modi government has clarified on the Supreme Court’s decision that keeping in mind the spirit of the Constitution, the system of sub-classification in SC-ST category will not be implemented and the advertisement for recruitment through lateral entry without reservation is cancelled.
