Mehar Vij learned Gatka for her role in ‘Banda Singh’, said- actresses should make themselves powerful

Mehar Vij has shown her acting skills in TV shows and films like ‘Yeh Hawaayen’, ‘Stree Teri Kahani’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Jahan Chaar Yaar’. The actress, who has traveled almost two decades in the industry, says that now women need to experiment a little. She considers herself lucky that she got a chance to play a powerful character in the film ‘Banda Singh Chaudhary’. Had come to Lucknow recently. During this, he/she had a special conversation with us. Injuries occurred during the action sequence.
Yes, I had to work hard for the action parts in the film. I practiced Gatka (traditional martial art of Sikhs) for this, during which I suffered many injuries. Sometimes there was pain in the hand and sometimes in the shoulder. It is very important to have strong shoulders for Gatka because without it you cannot rotate the discus. It’s very difficult but it was fun to challenge myself. Sometimes you feel connected to certain things, I too felt the same after Gatka.

As actresses we have a lot of range but for some reason or the other it is not explored. I think actresses need to experiment a little here and there, in which they can show themselves as powerful. Well, they rarely get such opportunities. I consider myself lucky that I got the opportunity to play the character of a strong woman. Now the audience should also warm up. Next I am doing a film, in which I will be seen in the role of a secret agent.

My husband Manav Vij is very supportive. This can be gauged from the fact that if I am going somewhere, he/she even packs my bag. Not only work, he/she also supports me fully in fitness and shopping. he/she is very emotional. Yes, there were some ups and downs in his/her life but we passed the difficult times together and with courage. he/she appreciates my work and I support him/her in all his/her work. We both keep learning something or the other from each other.

Women deserve respect everywhere

No matter what the field, women deserve respect and honor everywhere. A woman is an example in herself who does not need empowerment. She is so powerful in herself that if she realizes this then she will not need to look outside. Be it women working in the industry or in any other field, everyone has to understand that they are very powerful.

The vibe of Lucknow is something different

This is my second visit to Lucknow. For the first time I came in 2019 for the shooting of ‘Jahan Chaar Yaar’. At that time, I had come for two-three days and the shooting schedule was very tight, due to which I did not get a chance to know the city much, but I like Lucknow very much. It is a clean city and the vibe here is different. The infrastructure of the city is also very good.
