Medical Colleges News: Medical colleges have doubled in the last 10 years, how many MBBS seats have increased in which state?

State Wise Medical College MBBS Seats: There has been a big change in medical education in India in the last few years. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare gave this information in the Rajya Sabha. Similarly, there has been a huge jump in the number of MBBS seats.
Before 2014, there were only 387 medical colleges in the country. Before 2014, there were 51,348 seats, which has now increased to 1,18,137. This is an increase of 130 percent. Now in 2024 their number has increased to 780. This is an increase of 102 percent.
Some states and union territories did not have a single medical college in 2013–14. So far 65 medical colleges have been opened in Telangana. Medical education has also expanded in Rajasthan. In 2013-14, there were 10 colleges and 1,750 seats. Now there are 43 colleges and 6,475 seats. In Chhattisgarh, the number of colleges has increased from five colleges (600 seats) to 16 colleges (2,455 seats). The number of colleges in Delhi has increased from 7 to 10 and the number of seats has increased from 900 to 1,497.

In Madhya Pradesh, the number of colleges has increased from 12 colleges (1,700 seats) to 31 colleges (5,200 seats). In this way, the opportunities for medical studies in the country have increased significantly. MBBS seats in Maharashtra have increased from 5,590 to 11,845. Tamil Nadu has increased by 5,835 seats and now the total number of seats is 12,050. There have been 44 to 80 medical colleges in Maharashtra and 30 to 86 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
The number of MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh has also increased significantly. Earlier there were 3,749 seats, which has now increased to 12,425. Telangana earlier did not have a single medical college, but now there are 9,040 MBBS seats. Karnataka has the highest number of medical colleges. In 2013-14, there were 46 medical colleges, which have now increased to 73.

Goa and Chandigarh already had one medical college each. The number of colleges has not increased in both these places, but there has been a slight increase in MBBS seats. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mizoram, Nagaland and Telangana to name a few. Now all these states and union territories have at least one medical college.
