Medical College News: Bad condition of students in this medical college, no one has been able to complete MBBS studies for 13 years

The condition of a medical college in Punjab is so bad that all the students studying there have to be shifted to another college. Yes, we are talking about White Medical College and Hospital, Pathankot, which was earlier known as Chintpurni Medical College. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot has decided to send 259 MBBS students of this college to other colleges. This decision has been taken due to lack of necessary facilities and infrastructure for studies in the college.

This is not the first time that students of this college are facing such problems. Even before this, students have been shifted many times due to the poor condition here.

Students taking admission in the year 2021 and 2022 are most troubled by this decision. The college had promised them good facilities, but the promise was not fulfilled.

BFUHS has started the process of online counseling for students to get seats in other colleges. From 3rd to 5th October, students can choose the colleges of their choice. They will be allotted seats in new colleges on 7th October. Students will have to report to their new colleges on October 8 and 9.

BFUHS Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Sood said that during the inspection of the college, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had found that there was lack of basic facilities here. There are not even enough professors to teach. NMC itself takes care of the quality of medical education in the country.

This is not the first time that students of this college are being shifted. Even before this, NMC had found many shortcomings in the college, after which students of all the batches were sent to other colleges.

The college administration had appealed against this decision, but the NMC and the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected their appeal. After this, the Punjab government ordered to shift the MBBS students of the college to other colleges.

Chintpurni Medical College has been in controversies for a long time. It was established in 2011, but was closed in 2017 because it did not have the necessary facilities for medical studies.

In December 2017, on the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court, 249 students of 2014 and 2016 batches were shifted to other colleges.

In 2021, it was renamed White Medical College and Hospital. That year the college again got permission for admission to the MBBS course. This permission for admission on 150 seats continued in 2022 also. However, later admissions were banned again due to lack of facilities.

In May 2023, BFUHS conducted a surprise inspection of the college. Inspection found that the college still lacked facilities. Following this, BFUHS canceled the affiliation of the college for the session 2023-24. NMC also refused to renew the recognition given to the college.

Earlier this year, the High Court had ordered NMC and the Punjab government to shift all the students of the college to other colleges.

This college, which was started in 2011, has not been able to pass even a single MBBS batch yet. It is the result of the negligence of the college management and the negligence of the government that the future of the students is in danger.
