MCD Election 2022: ‘RWAs will be mini councilors of their area’, promises CM Kejriwal

Delhi MCD Election 2022: CM Arvind Kejriwal interacted with the representatives of all the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Delhi today for the MCD elections. Arvind Kejriwal has guaranteed that all RWAs will be given the status of mini councilors if AAP forms the government in MCD. Regarding this, CM Arvind Kejriwal said in his dialogue today that after the formation of your government in MCD, RWA will be the councilor of his area and the people of Delhi will run MCD.

RWA will have the power to decide financially on other local things including fumigation, pruning of trees. During this, Arvind Kejriwal said that we had tried to divide Delhi into 3500 mohalla clinics, but the cooperation of BJP’s MCD was impossible, so it went into cold storage. He said that now we will actively involve RWA so that the public does not remain as a mute spectator.

Arvind Kejriwal said that we want to create an active platform for this, so that a two-way dialogue can be maintained with the government. We will plan this after a very wide consultation. Will give little power to RWA and keep rectifying the mistakes. CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the way we built mohalla clinics in Delhi, built government schools and hospitals, today it is being discussed all over the world. Similarly, if we succeed in creating a model of direct public participation in governance in Delhi, it will give a new system of governance to the whole world.

RWA representatives gave suggestions to CM Arvind Kejriwal…

News Reels

1. The ARWA representative suggested that there are mosquitoes everywhere in Delhi. My appeal is that you empower the RWAs so much that we can do the fumigation ourselves.

2. Another representative of RWA suggested that it is our long standing demand that RWA should be recognized. So that we can provide real services to the people. Today, if a resident sends a letter to the DC, he will get a reply, but if he sends a letter to the RWA, it goes straight to the dustbin. We have to work on the Society Act. Right now any five people can set up their society and get the recognition of RWA. According to the act, one HRWA should be made in every area.

3. The ARWA representative suggested that all our complaints are with the MCD, the condition of the road in Dwarka today is bad and the cleanliness is negligible. There is no sewerage cover. There is a lot of encroachment. For the first time in the history, CGHS has been given many facilities from MLA fund.

4. Basant Kunj, chairman of RWA, said that the expenses of RWA are met by the monthly subscriptions taken from the residents. But this does not satisfy us. Our biggest expenditure is on the security guard. I want to arrange guards like Civil Defense Volunteers. RWA organizes festivals. Funds should be given to RWAs for organizing Holi and Diwali festivals. To run RWA, we should be given POTA cabin for furniture, computer and office. On which Arvind Kejriwal also agreed.
