MBBS in UP: Doing MBBS from UP has become easier! 5 new medical colleges have started, seats have doubled in many places

There is good news for Uttar Pradesh. Especially if you are thinking of studying medicine in UP, then you must read this news. MBBS studies are going to start in 5 new medical colleges in the state. For this, these colleges have got approval from the Union Health Ministry, Government of India. Along with this, MBBS seats have also been increased in many other medical colleges of UP.

An official of the Uttar Pradesh government said that after these approvals from the Center, the number of seats in medical colleges of Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur has been increased from 50 to 100. It is being implemented from this session. Due to which now the number of MBBS seats in UP has increased by 600 for the academic session 2024-25. While the total number of new MBBS seats in the state has increased to 1,200.

Seats in government and private medical colleges in UP

Out of the total 11,200 MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh, 5,150 are in government medical colleges and 6,050 in private medical colleges. DG Medical Education Kinjal Singh said, ‘The department had recently appealed to the Union Health Ministry to approve 100 MBBS seats in the Autonomous State Medical Colleges of Auraiya, Chandauli, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri and Kaushambi.’

he/she further said, ‘Apart from this, we had sought permission to increase the MBBS seats from 50 to 100 in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur. The ministry has approved 100 MBBS seats in all these medical colleges.’

It is worth noting that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had talked to Union Health Minister JP Nadda in this regard. After which the principals of medical colleges filed an appeal in the National Medical Commission (NMC). The result was that seven medical colleges got recognition in the first appeal itself.
