Experienced opening batsman Mayank Agarwal was on Thursday named the captain of Karnataka for the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day cricket tournament to be held in Ahmedabad from December 21 to January 5, 2025. Karnataka team led by Agarwal failed to enter the knockouts of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Shreyas Gopal has been appointed vice captain. Karnataka will start its campaign against Mumbai on December 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Apart from Karnataka and Mumbai, Puducherry, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, Hyderabad and Nagaland have been kept in Group C. Players like KL Srijit, Hardik Raj and Praveen Dubey have also been given a chance in the Karnataka team.
