Masood’s captaincy remains intact, when will the decision be taken on Babar? What happened in the PCB meeting

New Delhi. Shan Masood will continue to be the captain of the Pakistan Test team. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and coach Jason Gillespie have expressed confidence in Shan Masood as the Test captain of the national team ahead of the busy international season, but a decision on Babar Azam’s captaincy in limited overs cricket will be taken later. Pakistan is scheduled to host England in a three-match Test series in October this year while also facing Bangladesh, South Africa and West Indies.

The PCB held a meeting on Wednesday which was attended by senior board officials, national selectors, Jason Gillespie, white-ball coach Gary Kirsten, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood. And during this, the team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup was also discussed. A source aware of the developments said, ‘The meeting was held to discuss ways to prepare a comprehensive blueprint for the national team in red and white ball formats.’ Masood, who took over as Test captain before the Australia tour earlier this year, got full support.
