Pinjore, 25 September (Nis)
Market Welfare Association has sent a complaint to the Chief Minister regarding re-carpeting of the main road of Kalka-Pinjore and wrong construction of drain in front of shops, alleging that there is a scam worth crores in road construction and demanding a vigilance inquiry. Its copy has also been sent to former CM Vipal Deb Kumar, Home Minister, Home Secretary, Vigilance DGP, Engineer in Chief B&R.
Association head Mukesh Kansal and other shopkeepers and showroom owners said in their complaint that the main road has been being built by the B&R department using the wrong map for the last two years, which is sheer misuse of government money and by defaming the government, the government’s image is being tarnished among the public. It is being built with the intention of making the same route possible, whereas the same route could have been built in a period of just six months at a cost of Rs 4-5 crore. More than Rs 18 crore of government money has been misused by the department in its construction and after almost two years The construction is also incomplete. Mukesh Kansal said that due to construction based on wrong map, the business of about 500 shopkeepers in the market of about 4-5 km area is coming to a standstill. They and about 20 thousand people dependent on them are facing livelihood crisis. He said that due to wrong construction of drains, 40-50 feet wide parking in front of shops has been completely destroyed. The drains are of no use, rain water flows on the road, causing the road to break and leave huge potholes on it. He said that the government gets revenue worth crores from both Pinjore and Kalka markets, where will it get revenue if the market is not saved.
He said that meat shops are not registered in the city, shopkeepers and customers are troubled by the foul smell of meat. The functioning of the shops around the non-vegetarian shops is being greatly affected, hence a demand has been made to make the meat shops isolated.
