Many unheard stories about Indian cricket, the team manager relieved many stories

Nisha Rathore/ Udaipur:- Amrit Mathur, former manager of the Indian cricket team, shared his/her experiences on the unheard stories and untold tales of cricket in the book Pitchside, organised by Udaipur Tales at Hotel Lake End. Amrit Mathur told Local18 that there is a lot of difference between being a manager in cricket in the past and being a manager now. In the present scenario, managers face many challenges as compared to the past.

According to him/her, no one will ever forget the Multan cricket match in the history of Indian cricket. In that match, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar was playing his/her innings at 195 runs and at the same time, captain Rahul Dravid declared the innings. Sachin was surprised at that time. When he/she came to the dressing room, his/her face was red with anger. The decision to declare the innings is not of the captain, but of the entire team. After that, the Indian team came on the field, but Sachin did not come on the field for fielding due to anger. I explained to him/her and then he/she agreed.

Said this about Sourav Ganguly
Mathur told that a similar incident happened in the year 2002 at Lord’s ground. When India won the final match under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, everyone knows the story of Sourav taking off his/her shirt and waving it. When India won the lost match, that moment was amazing for Sourav and the result of that was that Sourav took off his/her shirt and waved it in the air. The Indian team came out with the aim of winning and after a lot of ups and downs, India finally won that final.

The contribution of Udaipur cricket in Rajasthan’s cricket cannot be forgotten. The Maharanas here promoted cricket from time to time. There have been very few players like Salim Durrani as a cricketer in India. In Ranji cricket, spectators used to come only to see Salim Durrani. When he/she got out, the spectators would leave the ground.

Cricketer Imran Khan made this request to ICC
Cricketer Imran Khan took a positive step by requesting ICC to send neutral umpires to Pakistan to improve Pakistan’s image on the cricket field. Despite arguments on the cricket field, the players remained friendly off the field. Virat was aggressive in captaincy, while Sourav taught India how to win matches. Sourav used to give goals to the players after seeing their talent.
