New Delhi. Qualcomm recently introduced its flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at an event. Following the announcement of the processor, several Android phone makers including Oppo, OnePlus and Motorola have revealed that their flagship phones will be powered by the latest Qualcomm processor. The processor is expected to improve performance and bring many new features. Here we list down 8 must-have features that premium Android phones could come in 2023.

Improved CPU performance with new tri-cluster design

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is an octa-core chip with a new tri-cluster architecture, consisting of 1x Cortex X3 prime core clocked at 3.2GHz, 3x Cortex A715 performance cores clocked at 2.8GHz and 2.0GHz Contains 4x Cortex A510 efficiency cores. Better gaming performance with the new Adreno GPU

This is Qualcomm’s first chipset to support ray tracing and the chip comes with a new Adreno GPU which is claimed to deliver up to 25% better gaming performance. Also the ray tracing support will allow for better and detailed graphics quality.

Dual 5G+5G mode will provide better connectivity

Another major improvement that we will see in the upcoming 8 Gen 2 smartphone will be dual SIM 5G support. This means that both the SIM slots will support 5G and both will be active at the same time. As is currently the case with 4G smartphones.

Latest Wi-Fi standard support for faster speeds and range

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also equipped with Wi-Fi 7 standard. This means that future handsets will support Wi-Fi 7. For those who do not know Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 7 is the latest Wi-Fi standard that allows 6GHz spectrum. Wi-Fi 7 supports 320 MHz channel bandwidth which is a larger channel and supports speeds of up to 40 Gbps and better range.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset comes with Cognitive ISP that automatically enhances photos and videos in real time. Apart from this, the chip also includes support for new camera hardware like Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor, etc.

Built in spatial audio and head-tracking support

Another major improvement we can see is in the audio department. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 brings native support for native audio and head tracking.
