Manoj Muntashir spoke on ‘Emergency’- Why is it being played incomplete? Take Kangana to the courts

Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ which was to be released on 6th September has now been postponed. The film is currently in a lot of controversies. In fact, the Sikh community has stood up against this film and a petition has been filed to stop its release. Amidst these controversies, the censor board has also withdrawn the certificate given to the film. Amidst all this, lyricist Manoj Muntashir has said very deep things for the Sikh community, calling the ban on the release of the film wrong. he/she has said a lot about Kangana’s film ‘Emergency’, calling the demand of the Sikh community wrong.

In a video posted on Instagram, Manoj is seen saying, ‘Emergency will not be released on September 6 because the film did not get a censor certificate. It is a good thing, but why is this certificate game being played half-heartedly? It should be played fully. Another certificate should be taken away from us that we are people who respect freedom of expression. Leave this pretense of greatness, we are not able to tolerate even one film, let’s talk about freedom of expression.’

‘The problem is that Indira Gandhi’s killers have been shown as Sikhs’

he/she further says, ‘Okay, what is the problem with emergency? The problem is that Indira Gandhi’s brutal murder has been shown. So did Indira ji die in a road accident, was she not murdered? The problem is that Indira Gandhi’s killers have been shown to be Sikhs. So Satwant Singh and Beant Singh were not Sikhs? It is said that the Sikh community has objections to these parts. I am not ready to believe that the Sikhs who stand with the truth by chanting Ek Omkar Satnam are scared of the truth shown in a film. Sikhs are a golden page in the history of India, when they come out wearing saffron turbans on their heads, the whole country looks at them with respect because the valor of our great Gurus is reflected in the folds of that turban. If you want to understand the philosophy of Sikhs, then understand Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Teg Bahadur and Maharaja Ranjit Singh.’

‘Take them to the courts, the court will decide it’

Manot Muntashir said, ‘Murders like Satwant and Beant shot the person they had sworn to protect. How can anyone in his/her senses consider them heroes? Innocent Sikhs had to pay compensation for Satwant and Beant in 1984. This is as dark a page in India’s history as the Emergency. But Sikhs never played the victim card. They never had enmity with India. Make a list of those who sacrificed their lives on the borders, even after 84, the number of Sikhs will not be less than anyone else. I refuse to believe that such a brave community would be scared of a film. I appeal to my Sikh brothers and sisters, go ahead and take whatever complaints you have against Kangana Ranaut ji to the courts, the court will decide on it. But this film is not Kangana’s alone. A crew of 500 people has earned the film by shedding their sweat. There should be no injustice with them in your presence.’

‘Some scared people do not represent the entire community’

Manoj did not stop here, he/she further said, ‘Condemn the pressure being exerted on the censor board in your name and say that this pressure is political, not moral. Some scared people do not represent the entire community. Say that your truth is neither dependent on any film nor afraid of any film. After the release, if you feel that something wrong has been shown in the film, then protest against it, I will also stand with you. We have always believed in your humanity and your urge for justice. We know that Aurangzeb’s eardrums would burst due to the loud roars of the Sikhs, those Sikhs can never stand in favor of suppressing someone else’s voice. Do not let this faith of mine and crores of Indians break, Wahe Guru Ji Da Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Di Fateh.’
