‘As long as I am alive, I want to work’
Manisha said, ‘We need to be pioneers to show the world and ourselves that even after 50, we can rock. We can still live an amazing life. We can still be good at what we do. We can still live very happy and healthy lives. As long as I am alive, I want to work and stay healthy. I want to look good…that’s my aim.
‘She is old, what work can she do?
Manisha further said, ‘Many people think that she has grown old. What kind of work can it do? Some think that let’s give her the role of mother or sister. But women can play strong roles. Many actresses have done this before me and I also want to do the same. There is enthusiasm and fire inside me too. I still have the hunger to do more. I want to progress as an artist. Age is just a number and it won’t stop me. No one should be stopped.
‘Removed from Roundtable Conference due to age’
Manisha Koirala again told that because of her age she was not allowed to be a part of many roundtable conferences. She said, ‘Whether it is the film industry or anywhere else, aging is a problem for women. We are insulted. I have never heard any troll tell a man that he/she is old. But many women are trolled. This is like underestimating age.
‘Women are greatly affected’
The actress further said, ‘Insulting someone on the basis of age affects women more than men. I was sidelined from the Roundtable Conference by a certain group. And the reason they told me was that this conference was about a particular age group. I asked, ‘Okay, if the male colleague was in the same age group, if my co-star or a man older than me was a part of this project, would he/she have done a good job? Will he/she also be kept away from the Roundtable Conference? no way.’
‘It has a bad effect’
Manisha Koirala said, ‘I have seen this in at least two to three roundtable conferences, I was kept aside because of my age. It affects us.
