Manipur is waiting for you Mr PM… India Block wrote a letter to Modi


New Delhi: Opposition alliance INDIA has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur. A letter was also sent to the Prime Minister on Friday regarding this issue. In this letter, he/she has also put forward three demands before PM Modi. he/she said that the people of Manipur are eagerly waiting for the Prime Minister so that their voice of helplessness can be heard. Manipur’s constituent parties included in the India alliance on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the violence-hit state as soon as possible. This is because peace can be restored only with their direct participation.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the opposition alliance urged that on behalf of the people of Manipur and the ‘INDIA’ alliance, we invite you to visit Manipur. Our state has been burning in the fire of unrest since May 3, 2023 i.e. almost two years. During this period there was massive devastation in the state. Nearly one lakh people have been displaced and hundreds have lost their lives. The letter further states that continuous violence has increased the pain, fear and helplessness among the people of Manipur.

These three demands were placed before the Prime Minister

The opposition placed three demands before Prime Minister Modi to restore peace in the state. The first demand is that the Prime Minister should visit Manipur before the end of 2024. If he/she does not have time, then as per the second demand, he/she should invite all the political parties of Manipur to his/her residence in Delhi. In the third demand, the opposition alliance said that only direct talks by the Prime Minister with the people of Manipur can bring peace in the state. The people of Manipur look forward to meeting you on Manipur soil.

‘People of Manipur are in distress, PM Modi’s intervention is necessary’

The parties in the opposition alliance want the Prime Minister to take stock of the situation in Manipur and listen to the problems of the people. The opposition believes that the situation will not improve only by relying on the government and administration. Personal intervention of the Prime Minister is necessary. The people of Manipur are in distress. Their houses have been destroyed. They are facing shortage of food items. Children are not able to go to school. Businesses have come to a standstill. People are living in fear. Therefore, the opposition believes that the Prime Minister should immediately go to Manipur and help the people.

Last month, violence broke out again in Manipur. There were attacks on the houses of ministers and MLAs. The violence started after bodies of three women and three children were found in Barak river in Jiribam. This incident is extremely sad and has further increased the tension in the state. The people of Manipur are scared and are in dire need of security. The opposition says that the Prime Minister’s visit can give confidence to the people. They should be given a sense of security. This will strengthen efforts to restore peace. The Prime Minister should talk to all parties and take concrete steps to establish peace.
