Manav Vij Exclusive: Choice of actor changes every three, I don’t get offered many projects.

Recently, the character of Manav Vij, who was seen in his/her web show ‘Tanaan Ke Season 2’, was liked a lot. Manav talks to us exclusively about his/her film career, experience of working with superstars and upcoming projects:Your characters seem very honest on screen. Do you make any special preparations for this?
I believe that even if my acting remains a little less. Even if I get only 5 out of 10 in acting. But my father had said that you should increase your honesty so much that you automatically get 9 marks. Sometimes you may be a good actor but you miss the mark. You cannot do like Irfan sir, Nawaz or Pankaj Tripathi. So like Kabir Faruqui is my character, he/she becomes my best friend. I join him/her. That’s why you guys see honesty in my role. Like I never wore a fake beard for my role.

Where else can fans see you after the tension?
Recently my film ‘Gaanth’ was released on OTT. Apart from this, many more things are in the pipeline. To be honest, the producers of my films and shows keep their information hidden from me. They fear that I am so talkative that I might tell anyone ahead of time. Well, I have another show, which may come in the next few months. My different look and role will be seen in it. After this I am also working in a Punjabi film. The name of the film is Manjh, in which I am working with Jimmy Shergill. That’s a very sweet film.

Apart from Hindi cinema, you keep working in Punjabi cinema also?
I feel like doing at least one Punjabi film in a year. But firstly, I don’t get that many projects and I don’t fit into some of them. Then sometimes there is talk of money also. Actually, when you work in big projects like Laal Singh Chaddha, Samrat Prithviraj and Tanav, the expectations of the fans also increase. They feel that humans only do good work. That’s why I have to be very selective about projects. Despite this, I feel very keen to do Punjabi films. I feel very comfortable talking to someone in Punjabi.

You did the film Prithviraj with Akshay Kumar. You must have seen his/her films in the beginning of his/her career. Then you got the role opposite him/her, how did you feel?
It was a great feeling. I like Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan also looks good. I am personally also a big fan of Salman Khan. At Arbaaz Bhai’s wedding he/she asked me, what are you drinking? I became happy with that. We had seen his/her Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 3 times during our college days. It seems that the people you like are also working with you and talking to you nicely. Sometimes Aamir sir would also bring food for us. So this feeling is very good. It feels good to work with big stars.

But your films with Akshay and Aamir did not do well at the box office. How did you feel then?
Every film has its own destiny. Sometimes its movement is written, sometimes not. You do your work, then it may or may not be a hit. Like many people did not like Lal Singh Chaddha in theatre. When the film came on OTT, it was the favorite film of many people. I don’t think there was any lack in anyone’s hard work.

You do films as well as web shows. Which of these do you enjoy the most?
Nowadays I have started enjoying OTT more. There are 10, 12 episodes, so the story is also long. You can portray a character well. But it’s not that I don’t like films. The choice of actor changes every three months.
