Malayalam actor Siddiqui, whom the police was searching for a week, suddenly appeared, smiled and walked away.


Malayalam actor Siddiqui, accused in the rape case, was missing for the last one week. While the Kerala Police was searching for him/her everywhere to arrest him/her, he/she was busy playing a game of hide and seek even after switching off his/her mobile phone. It is interesting that while the police had declared him/her ‘absconding’, after getting anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court, he/she suddenly appeared in front of the world. On Tuesday, he/she was seen outside the office of lawyer B Raman Pillai & Associates in Ernakulam North. During this, he/she did not say anything, but smiled and boarded his/her car. The High Court had rejected Siddiqui’s anticipatory bail plea. After this, on Monday, the Supreme Court gave him/her relief and granted him/her anticipatory bail in the rape case. When Siddiqui came out of the lawyer’s office on Tuesday, the media surrounded him/her and tried to get his/her comment, but he/she remained silent and kept smiling while sitting in the car with his/her son.

Supreme Court issued notice to police and victim

The bench of Supreme Court Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, giving relief to actor Siddiqui, has issued a notice to the Kerala government and the victim in the case, seeking a reply within two weeks.

What did SC say while granting anticipatory bail to Siddiqui?

“In the meantime, it is directed that in the event of the arrest of the petitioner in connection with crime no. 1192/2024 of the Museum Police Station, Thiruvananthapuram, he/she shall be liable to any further punishment imposed by the trial court,” the bench said, according to a report by news agency PTI. Will be released on bail subject to conditions and will be asked to join the investigation and appear before the investigating officer by the next date of hearing.’

Kerala Police had issued a lookout notice against Siddiqui

After Siddique’s disappearance, Kerala Police had issued a lookout notice with his/her photograph, which appeared in various newspapers. The notice said he/she is facing charges under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the Museum police station case in Thiruvananthapuram.

Rape allegations leveled against Siddiqui after Justice Hema Committee report

Following the Justice Hema Committee report, a woman has made rape allegations against the actor. Due to this, Siddique had to resign from the post of General Secretary of Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). Soon after, the victim lodged a formal complaint with the police. However, Siddiqui has denied the allegations and termed it a ‘criminal conspiracy’.
