Ramesh Taurani told that earlier he/she had cast Mukul Dev and Chandrachud Singh in ‘Kya Kehna’. But when Mukul Dev did not come on the first day of the shoot, Saif Ali Khan was signed at the very last minute. Ramesh Taurani said that the film was being made shortly after the murder of Gulshan Kumar, so he/she had to find distributors to sell the film in the market.
