Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Why was Wednesday chosen for voting in Maharashtra? Election Commission gave the reason

New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the dates of Maharashtra Assembly elections today. Voting will be held on 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra in a single phase on November 20. It is Wednesday 20th November. Election Commission told why they chose Wednesday only for voting in Maharashtra?

Why was only Wednesday chosen for voting?

The Election Commission said that Wednesday was the polling day deliberately chosen because people could not associate it with the weekend. The Election Commission is trying to increase the decreasing interest of urban voters in voting by keeping the voting day on Wednesday. Let us tell you that voting is often held on Friday and Monday. In such a situation, many people leave voting and go out for a walk, linking it with weekend leave. Due to which the voting percentage decreases significantly. In view of this problem, the Election Commission in Maharashtra has decided to conduct voting on Wednesday.
