Medanta Hospital studied 304 cases of lung cancer from March 2012 to November 2022. In which it was found that lung cancer is increasing rapidly in young people and non-smokers. About 2.6 percent of the patients in this study were around 20 years of age. Whereas, 10 percent were below 40 years and 20 percent were below 50 years.

Older people who smoked in the past had a higher risk of lung cancer. But now it is also affecting non-smokers with younger age. Compared to the total male patients in the study, 30 per cent female patients were found to be non-smokers. According to the researchers, this is happening due to air pollution.
