New Delhi: The Indian Army has now taken a big step to make its soldiers even stronger. The Army has inducted 550 ‘Asmi’ machine pistols into its Northern Command. This pistol is completely made in India, which is an important step towards making the country self-reliant. The work of making this pistol has been done jointly by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Colonel Prasad Bansod of the Indian Army. The post said that in a bid to promote the country’s self-reliant India initiative, the Indian Army has inducted 550 ‘Asmi’ machine pistols into the Northern Command. This weapon, developed by Army Colonel Prasad Bansod in collaboration with DRDO, is being manufactured indigenously by Lokesh Machine, Hyderabad.

According to the Army, the ‘Asmi’ machine pistol is a strong, small and reliable weapon. It is specially designed for close combat and special operations. Due to its unique semi-bullpup design, it can be used as both a pistol and a submachine gun with one hand. The Army believes that this ‘Made in India’ weapon is a strong step towards making the country self-reliant in the defense sector. This is a concrete initiative towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Self-reliant India’. The objective of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ is to make the country and its citizens self-reliant in all areas.
