Look at the possibility of alliance… Why things did not work out between AAP and Congress in Haryana despite Rahul Gandhi’s wish

New Delhi: Amidst the talks of alliance between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress in Haryana, AAP announced the names of 20 candidates on Monday. With this announcement, there are indications that there will be no alliance between the two parties. However, some people still believe that this could also be pressure politics from Aam Aadmi Party. Sources say that Congress is not ready to give as many seats as Aam Aadmi wants to contest. AAP was demanding 10 seats but Congress is ready to give only three to five seats. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wanted an alliance between the two parties in Haryana. Now the question is why the talks did not work out despite several rounds of talks on the alliance and Rahul Gandhi’s desire.

Did Congress back off due to this fear?
Many leaders of Haryana Congress were not speaking openly and aggressively but they told their central leadership what they wanted. They said that the party is capable and strong in Haryana on its own and AAP is not needed. The alliance was spoken by Rahul Gandhi, so even though no one was speaking openly, they expressed their opinion in some way or the other. Amidst all this, a faction of the Congress party was raising questions about whether what happened in Delhi and Punjab can happen in Haryana. Congress has suffered the most due to the arrival of AAP in both Delhi and Punjab. They said that today AAP is not that strong in Haryana but if the Congress party gives space, then what happened in Delhi and Punjab can also happen in Haryana.

Haryana Congress leaders were not seen in favor of this from the beginning
Haryana Congress’s biggest leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda has been said to be not in favour of an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party from the very beginning. he/she had already conveyed his/her opinion to the party high command. Randeep Surjewala also said that the Congress party is capable of winning the elections in Haryana even without AAP. When such a question was asked to Congress leader Captain Ajay Singh Yadav about the talks of Congress-AAP alliance for the Haryana elections, he/she gave a one-line answer. Ajay Singh Yadav said that AAP has no base in Haryana and I think why should we give them a place there. Many other leaders also had similar opinion.

How did the talks progress for the alliance?

In the Congress Election Committee meeting, Rahul Gandhi talked about exploring the possibility of an alliance between AAP and Congress in Haryana. This is where the discussion intensified. Several rounds of meetings were held between the leaders of both parties regarding the alliance, but nothing came out. Congress’s first list was also delayed due to this reason and even when it came, it had only 32 names. Negotiations were going on behind the scenes. Behind Rahul Gandhi’s talk about the possibility, it seemed like an effort that the All India Alliance should fight the Haryana elections unitedly and there should be no division of votes against the BJP. This also benefited in the Lok Sabha election results and the same effort was to be repeated here.

Why is it still not being spoken openly?

Haryana AAP unit chief Sushil Gupta today said that if an agreement is not reached by evening, his/her party will release the names of candidates for all 90 seats. A few hours after this statement, Aam Aadmi Party released the first list of 20 candidates. The last date for filing nominations for the 90-member Haryana Assembly is 12 September. That means only three days are left now. Nothing is being said openly by both the parties regarding the release of the first list and the AAP-Congress alliance. Now in such a situation, after the release of two lists of Congress, the next list and the next list of AAP, everything will become clear.
