Lok Sabha Election 2024: 60 lakh people pressed the NOTA button… NOTA got the most votes in this place, not Indore

New Delhi. Among the 53 national and regional political parties, including BJP and Congress, who tried their luck in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 across the country, 38 parties got less votes than NOTA. NOTA got about 60 lakh votes i.e. 0.99% in this election. It can be said that 60 lakh voters voted while performing their duty, but they did not consider any party or its candidates worthy of being elected. Out of 36 states and union territories, the maximum number of voters pressed the NOTA button in Bihar, 2.10%, whereas Bihar was the worst state in the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections with the lowest voter turnout. Experts say that Bihar has the highest number of voters pressing the NOTA button in the entire country, indicating that the people of Bihar are becoming indifferent towards voting. Nagaland got the least votes on NOTA, 0.20%. Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra stood second and third in terms of low voter turnout, but the good thing in both these states was that the voters here did not show much interest in voting on NOTA. In both the states, less than one percent of the votes were pressed on NOTA. 0.71% votes were cast on NOTA in Uttar Pradesh and 0.83% in Maharashtra. On the other hand, West Bengal topped the country in terms of voting this time. In this state too, voters cast less than one percent votes on NOTA, i.e. 0.90%. However, this figure is more than Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

NOTA got the most votes in these 10 states

The top 10 states with the highest NOTA votes were Bihar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha, Assam, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand, where people thought it appropriate to vote for any political party or independent candidate. The top 10 states with the lowest NOTA votes were Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Delhi, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh. Even though there was less voting in Delhi, people here did not show much enthusiasm in voting NOTA.

NOTA remained at second place in Indore

Indore in Madhya Pradesh was such a seat where NOTA got more votes than all the other 13 candidates standing in the electoral fray except the winning BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani. The winning BJP candidate on this seat got more than 12 lakh 26 thousand votes, while NOTA came second with more than 2 lakh 18 thousand votes. Apart from Shankar Lalwani, all other candidates got about 1 lakh 16 thousand votes, which was less than NOTA.
