‘Life Hil Gayi’ web series review: This fight between brother and sister has fallen into a ditch somewhere amidst the beautiful valleys

The story of ‘Life is shaken’

The story revolves around two siblings, Dev (Divyendu Sharma) and Kalki (Kusha Kapila), who are pitted against each other to change the fortunes of their ancestral hotel in Uttarakhand. Their grandfather (Kabir Bedi) challenges them to inherit the property. The hotel suffers from dull, sleazy staff and deteriorating infrastructure in the village. The siblings are not too excited about it, but they take up the challenge in their hunger to inherit the property. They hope that winning will help them fulfill their future dreams.

‘Life Hil Gayi’ web series review

Right from the beginning of the series, you as a viewer face the challenge of connecting with the characters and their work. Director Prem Mistry has spread a simple plot in the hills over six episodes, but it never reaches its climax. Each episode is a little over half an hour long, but none of them manage to fully engage or entertain the audience. All the six episodes are interconnected, but the weak scripts fail to carry it forward on screen.

Divyendu Sharma gained immense popularity as Munnabhai in Mirzapur. This time he/she plays the role of a slightly cunning Dev. The role lacks depth, which gives Divyendu very little space to showcase his/her talent. The same can be said for the rest of the cast, which includes Kusha Kapila and Vinay Pathak. Vinay Pathak plays the role of Dev and Kalki’s easy-going but unsuccessful father. Mukti Mohan is likable as a small town girl. She plays a character whose thinking is contemporary but she is deeply rooted in cultural values.

One of the best features of the show is the fresh and breezy atmosphere of life in the mountains. It is beautifully portrayed on screen. It is a highlight despite the weak screenplay. Such stories could have benefited a lot from comedic punches and funny situations or a strong emotional connect and quirky characters. But sadly, ‘Life Hil Gayi’ does not deliver on any of these fronts. Apart from a handful of scenes and a couple of dialogues, there is nothing in the series that can make the audience laugh or connect emotionally.

overall, ‘Life Hil Gayi’ is another name in the list of those forgettable OTT shows which fail to make an impact despite strong actors and beautiful locations.
