New Delhi. After Jay Shah became the ICC Chairman, there was talk about who would be the next Secretary of BCCI. Devjit Saikia was elected unopposed as the new Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, January 12. Saikia, who has played as a wicketkeeper-batsman in Ranji Trophy for Assam, is a lawyer by profession. Before serving BCCI, Devjit had worked as the secretary of Assam Cricket Association. 55-year-old Saikia has replaced Jay Shah, who will take charge of ICC on December 1, 2024.

According to a report in Indian Express, Saikia will remain the Secretary of BCCI for the next ten months. Saikia made his/her Ranji Trophy debut for Assam in 1991. Played four matches as wicketkeeper and middle order batsman. At the age of 21, he/she had decided to leave his/her cricket career and pursue it.
