Last voice in Supreme Court constitutional matters … Know the answer to former CJI DY Chandrachud on EVM question

New Delhi : Voting is going on in all 70 seats for the Delhi assembly elections. Former CJI DY Chandrachud also exercised his/her franchise at the polling booth of Lions Vidya Mandir Secondary School near Teen Murthy. his/her wife Kalpana Das also came to vote with him/her. During this time, reporters asked the former CJI questions about EVMs. In response, he/she said that the Supreme Court has repeatedly confirmed the validity of EVMs. Justice Chandrachud said, ‘I think our democracy is very mature and people feel their responsibilities. They know how they have to cast their votes … The Supreme Court has constantly, consistently confirmed the validity of EVMs. The Supreme Court is the last voice in constitutional matters, and has confirmed the validity of EVMs. I think we should accept people. This is the decision of the Supreme Court.

The former CJI appealed to the youth to exercise their franchise. he/she said, ‘My message to young voters is to use the franchise. This is an extraordinary and important event of every citizen’s life. Our constitution is in some constitution that gives every citizen the right to vote with births who have acquired the voting age….

Voting for the Delhi assembly elections started on Wednesday morning. Many booths saw long queues in the morning. The votes will be counted on 8 February. There is a triangular contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and Congress in Delhi. AAP is eyeing the third consecutive time to come to power with a strong majority. On the other hand, BJP has been out of power in Delhi since 1998. The Congress, which has been in power for 15 consecutive years from 1998 to 2013, has been marginalized in Delhi since the rise of AAP. he/she too is eyeing his/her lost political ground.
