What is high functioning depression?

Depression is a common mood disorder that many people around the world suffer from. According to the World Health Organization, about 28 crore people are suffering from depression all over the world and women are more victims of depression than men. According to Dr. Divya Shree, psychiatrist at Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, where some people severe symptomsSome people experience depression which affects their everyday life, whereas in some people its symptoms are very less which is called high functioning depression.

According to Dr. Shree, the symptoms of high functioning depression are like regular depression, but they are mild and do not have any impact on everyday life. Dr. Shree says that people with high functioning depression may be struggling a lot from within, but they are still able to concentrate on their work, relationships and social life.
