Kremlin calls reports of talks between Putin, Trump as “pure fiction”




The Kremlin has denied reports of a phone call between United States President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Trump reportedly asked Putin to avoid escalating the war in Ukraine, according to a report by Al Jazeera. Had requested.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the reports “pure fiction.”

In particular, the Washington Post, citing its sources, on Sunday (local time) said that Trump called from his/her Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida and during the conversation advised the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine. .

Calling the media reports “pure fiction”, Peskov told reporters on Monday: “This is a complete lie. This is pure fiction, this is just misinformation. There were no negotiations. According to Al Jazeera, when asked whether President Putin planned any contacts with Trump, Peskov said, “There are no concrete plans yet.”

The Washington Post said that during the call, the president-elect reminded Putin of Washington’s large military presence in Europe.

During his/her election campaign, Trump promised to immediately resolve the Ukrainian conflict but did not say how he/she planned to do so.

According to the US daily, Trump privately said he/she would support a deal where Russia would retain some liberated territories and during a phone call with Putin, he/she briefly touched on the issue of the territories. The American daily further said that the Ukrainian government was informed about the call and did not object to it because Kiev officials understood that Trump would discuss the matter with Putin.
