London
It is the golden dream of every cricketer to score a century at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which is called the Mecca of cricket. KL Rahul scored a century on the first day of the second Test against England to register his name in the list of only a handful of foreign batsmen to score a century at Lord’s. This is the list in which neither the captain Virat Kohli’s name nor the great Sachin Tendulkar is there.
Well, looking at the record, KL Rahul became the 10th batsman from India to score a Test century at Lord’s. Before him Vinoo Mankad, Dilip Vengsarkar, Gandappa Vishwanath, current Indian coach Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin, current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Ajit Agarkar, Rahul Dravid, Ajinkya Rahane have scored centuries.

Dilip Vengsarkar’s name is the most special in this special list, because he has touched the third figure not once but three times on this historic ground. Apart from him, no other Indian batsman could do this. He scored his first century at Lord’s in August 1979 (103 runs). This was followed by 157 in June 1982 and an unbeaten 126 in June 1986. All these three centuries remained against England.

It is noteworthy that on the first day of the second test against England, the Indian team scored 276 for 3 wickets. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 127 runs in 248 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six and entered his name in many record lists. On the second day when he came out to advance the innings, many more records were waiting for him, but he got out after scoring just 2 runs.
