Kiran Rao used to harass Aamir Khan, EX wife did not listen to her husband on ‘Dhobi Ghat’ shooting


Kiran Rao is a famous filmmaker who won everyone’s heart with his/her last film ‘Laapta Ladies’. Recently, he/she recalled his/her first directorial film ‘Dhobi Ghat’ which was released in 2010. She recently recalled working with her ex-husband Aamir Khan. The filmmaker told that initially, she did not accept any of Aamir’s suggestions and used to torture him/her. Aamir then asked Kiran to treat him/her like everyone else. In a conversation with Filmfare, Kiran Rao revealed that she was very strict towards Aamir during their time working together, even admitting that She was harassing him/her on the set. The director said that she was often polite to others but ignored Aamir’s comments.

She said, ‘It was a very small budget, micro-budget film and there was a nervousness whether I would be able to do what I wanted to do or not. I was very patient with everyone else because obviously I couldn’t. Why shout at someone else and I had to look like I knew what I was doing to everyone else but with Aamir, I could shout.

As a result, after the first day of shooting, Aamir came to talk to her and told her that he/she was not her husband or the filmmaker on the set. Hence, he/she asked him/her to behave like any other actor on the set and also requested him/her to explain things calmly. This made him/her realize his/her mistake and apologized for it.

Aamir Khan worked diligently

Despite the initial challenges, Kiran praised Aamir Khan’s dedication towards his/her role. he/she said that some scenes of Dhobhi Ghat were shot on the crowded Mohammad Ali Road. Since it was difficult for the superstar to commute every day during the shooting of the film, he/she would stay in the house where they were shooting while she would go home. Ultimately, this enhanced his/her character.

Kiran Rao’s directorial debut ‘Dhobi Ghat’ is one of Aamir’s most memorable films. It featured Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra, Kriti Malhotra and Aamir Khan in lead roles.
