Kiran Rao is very happy after divorce from Aamir Khan, said- I did not want to lose him/her, I am not alone

Kiran Rao has openly discussed her relationship with her ex-husband and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan on several occasions. The couple, who shocked many with their separation three years ago, still maintains a strong friendship and is co-parenting their son. Recently, she directed ‘Missing Ladies’, which received great reactions from both critics and audiences. In a recent interview on the ‘Faye D’Souza’ show, she has spoken openly about divorce. Kiran Rao said, ‘I think relationships need to be redefined from time to time because as we grow up we change as humans. We need different things and I thought it (divorce) would make me happy and honestly, it has made me very happy. It is a very happy divorce.’

Kiran said that before Aamir, she was single for a long time and enjoyed her freedom. She told that she used to feel lonely earlier too, but now she does not feel like that because of her son Azad. Kiran said, ‘I think loneliness is the only thing that most people are a little worried about when they get divorced or lose a partner. I did not feel lonely at all. In fact, I get the support of both the families, his/her family and my family. So, there have been only good things after this. It has been a very happy divorce.’

Both are together even after divorce

She said that there is no dearth of love between her and Aamir. To this she said, ‘There is a lot of love, a lot of respect, a lot of history, laughter, ideology, a lot of things that we look for in each other. So, I did not want to lose him/her. I was confident enough to say, ‘Yes, we don’t need paper to say that we are married, but we know what we mean to each other. This is a partnership that will stand the test of time despite divorce.’
