New Delhi. Yuvraj’s contribution to Indian cricket cannot be forgotten. In 2007 and then 2011, Yuvraj had the biggest hand in India’s T20 and ODI World victory. However, former Indian fielding coach R Sridhar has made a shocking disclosure about Yuvraj in his book. He has shared an anecdote, when Yuvraj was not ready to practice with Virat Kohli.

This incident of Yuvraj not practicing with Kohli dates back to 2016, when the Indian cricket team went on a tour of Australia for the limited overs series. R Sridhar has revealed this in his book COACHING BEYOND: My Days with the Indian Cricket Team. He wrote, “Before the start of 3 T20 series against Australia in the month of January 2016, we were practicing in Adelaide. I was pushing Virat hard and as Kohli is known, he didn’t back down. At the same time Yuvraj passed by me, I was hoping that he would join us. But, he went straight to the dugout and sat down and started watching us carefully.

Sridhar further wrote, “When Virat returned from the field after a few minutes, Yuvraj came for his practice. Yuvraj told me then, I could hardly match Virat’s speed or enthusiasm. That’s why I thought I’d leave you guys alone. You first complete your training drill. After that I will do fielding practice at my own pace. I knew what kind of struggle he had overcome to reach here.

According to the former Indian fielding coach, the very next day Yunraj took a wonderful catch of Chris Lynn at short cover off Hardik Pandya. After this I had nothing to say. India lost the 5 ODI series 1–4 on that tour.
