Kharge’s response to BJP’s attacks on Article 370 backfires, National Conference turns red with anger

New Delhi/Srinagar: Mallikarjun Kharge’s reply on Article 370 was not liked by his/her ally National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress President Kharge had responded to BJP’s attacks on Article 370, which angered NC MP Agha Ruhullah Mehdi. he/she has accused Kharge of agreeing with BJP on the issue of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Mehdi said that the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly demanded restoration of all guarantees including Articles 370 and 35A in their original form.

Kharge’s answer became a problem for him/her

Mallikarjun Kharge had said that if the proposal to abrogate Article 370 has been passed in the Parliament then why is the BJP raising this issue again and again? Mehdi said that the purpose of the new resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is to repeal the Article 370 from 1953 to 2019. The purpose was to express the people’s rejection of the allegedly unconstitutional abolition of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and all amendments. he/she said that no Congress President or Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President can misinterpret this resolution.

Salman Nizami of Democratic Progressive Azad Party said that the war of words between Congress and BJP over Article 370 has led to a rift in the Congress and National Conference alliance. Addressing Mehdi, he/she said that both Congress and BJP call Article 370 a closed chapter, yet your party is in alliance with Congress and gifts shawls to BJP to keep both happy.

Jammu and Kashmir gets full state status

State Congress chief Karra clarified that his/her party, which had decided not to join the coalition government until Jammu and Kashmir gets full statehood, said there should be no ambiguity about the purpose of the assembly resolution. he/she said that we have already said that after the Supreme Court’s decision on Article 370, only one thing is left to demand, that is full statehood. Despite our clear statement, BJP is distorting facts in election rallies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in an election rally in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar that Congress and its allies were plotting a separate constitution for Jammu and Kashmir. With this development, the issue of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir has once again come into limelight. It remains to be seen what political developments take place on this issue in the coming days.
