Kashi Tamil Sangam 3.0 will be held from 15 to 24 February, students and teachers coming from Tamil Nadu will also go to Maha Kumbh Mela.

New Delhi: Announcing “Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0” (KTS), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the event will be held from 15 to 24 February. For this, the registration website kashitamil.iitm.ac.in has been launched. The most special thing this time is that the third edition of the Sangamam will coincide with the world’s largest religious-spiritual Mahakumbh Mela. The Education Minister said in the press conference that the delegates participating in the Kashi Tamil Sangamam will be given ‘Amrit Snan’ during the Mahakumbh Mela. ‘And will get a chance to take a holy dip. Besides, students and teachers coming from Tamil Nadu will also visit Ram temple in Ayodhya. This is the first Kashi Tamil Sangamam being organized after the consecration of Ramlala in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple located in Ayodhya. Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Additional Secretary in Higher Education Department Sunil Kumar Varnwal, Chairman of Indian Language Committee Chamu Krishna Shastri were also present in the press conference.

Who will be included?
Apart from students, teachers, farmers, artisans, professionals and small entrepreneurs coming from Tamil Nadu, women and researchers will also participate in this big program to be organized at ‘NaMo’ Ghat in Kashi and they will be given a glimpse of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. There will be an opportunity to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela on the banks of confluence of rivers. The Union Education Minister said that these have been two important centers of education and culture in India since ancient times and there has been an unbreakable cultural relationship between the two.

The objective of this Sangamam is to make the youth aware about this so that interaction and communication between people in different walks of life increases. This is an important event of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that this unbreakable bond between Tamil Nadu and Kashi is getting stronger through Kashi Tamil Sangamam. The main theme of Kasi Tamil Sangamam is to highlight the important contribution of sage Agastya.

five special categories
The Union Education Minister said that to participate in this event, applications have been invited in 5 categories on the respective portal. A total of 1000 participants from Tamil Nadu will participate in the event. Apart from this, there will also be a group of 200 Tamil students participating from all the central universities. he/she will get an opportunity to do local travel to Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya. Registration can be done till February 1 and the list of participants in this program will be released on February 5.

The main theme of the Kasi Tamil Sangamam is to highlight the significant contribution of Sage Agastya to the Siddha system of medicine (Indian medicine), classical Tamil literature and the cultural unity of the nation. On this occasion, a special exhibition will be organized about various aspects of the personality of Sage Agastya and his/her contribution to health, philosophy, science, linguistics, literature, politics, culture, art, especially Tamil and Tamil Nadu.

Apart from this, there will also be seminars and workshops on relevant topics. The first Kasi Tamil Sangamam was organized from 16 November to 16 December 2022. This month-long event was organized as a special initiative of the government with the aim of reviving the vibrant relations between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu. For the second time this event was organized from 17 December to 30 December 2023.

Seeing the immense enthusiasm of the people of both Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, this third event is being organized. For the participants from Tamil Nadu, it is a great opportunity to visit the ancestral home of Tamil poet Subramaniam Bharati, Kedar Ghat, Kasi Mandapam and the Tamil Department of Banaras Hindu University, where there is a lot of enthusiasm for education and literary discussion. While IIT Madras in Tamil Nadu has prepared for this important event, in Varanasi the event will be hosted by Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
