Karni Sena’s ruckus on Impa’s yacht in Goa, protest against burning of saffron in Hindi film ‘Chola’

The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPAA)’s attempt to organize a film program on a yacht on the lines of the Cannes Film Festival in the sea near the Kala Academy in Goa turned into a ruckus here last night. Director Atul Garg’s film ‘ During the trailer launch of ‘Chola’, Karni Sena expressed strong protest against the scenes shown in the film in which the hero of the film takes off the saffron clothes from his/her body and burns them in the fire. Actor Manoj Joshi was also present at the event and as soon as the uproar started, he/she left the place with his/her friends.

The program was to be held on Impa’s yacht floating in the sea.

Director Atul Garg’s film ‘Chola’ was shown on Friday at the Film Bazaar which was being held along with the 55th International Film Festival in Goa. The makers of the film had been preparing for many days to publicly release its trailer with Indian and foreign actors working in the story based on the life story of a professor from sexual intercourse to Samadhi. Since the program was to be held on Impa’s yacht floating in the sea, its booking etc. was done in advance and entry cards were also distributed to the people well in advance to reach here.

In the party that started around 8 pm on Saturday night, first the trailer of director Atul Garg’s multi-part film franchise ‘Kashmir’ was launched and actor Hemant Pandey, who is playing the role of the main villain in the next film of this franchise, was introduced on the stage. he/she was called and felicitated. Film actress Poonam Jhawar also registered her presence on the stage during this period. And then came the turn to launch the trailer of the film ‘Chola’. After showing the trailer, when the program director was gathering people’s opinion about it, Karni Sena leader Surjit Singh Rathod, present there, asked to play the trailer again.

When the trailer was played again, Karni Sena leader Surjit Singh Rathore, who was later introduced as the president of the organization’s Yuva Sena, and another Rajesh Jain present there created a ruckus over some scenes in the trailer. Both of them objected to the scenes of burning saffron clothes, Tulsi and Rudraksh garlands in the trailer and threatened that they would not allow it to be released without removing these scenes.

Director Atul Garg tried to explain to Karni Sena that we will show you the entire film when the right time comes. Actor Hemant Pandey also expressed his/her opposition to Rathod’s objection. Seeing the commotion at the event, the film’s cast and visitors immediately left the yacht and started heading towards the shore. Seeing Manoj Joshi leaving the program, many other visitors followed him/her and left the program.

Objections expressed on many scenes

According to the information, the film ‘Chola’ is the story of a young professor who takes refuge in a Baba’s ashram and wears saffron robes for spiritual peace, but even that does not bring him/her peace. The mind keeps wandering. The Baba of the ashram tells him/her that for spiritual peace it is important to recognize the inner strength. There is no need to wear saffron clothes for that. Then the professor burns his/her saffron clothes, Rudraksha and Tulsi rosary and becomes a professor again. According to Atul Garg, the message of the film is that there is no need to sacrifice one’s family or become a saint or monk to attain spiritual peace and live a simple life. It was also told that Karni Sena leader Surjeet had come to the program only on the invitation of film director Atul Garg.
