The news of Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri working in Dhadak 2 made headlines on Monday. A day later, filmmaker Karan Johar has denied that his/her production company Dharma Productions is making the film. The original starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and was Janhvi’s debut film. On Tuesday, Karan Johar denied being associated with Dhadak 2 on Instagram Stories.
On Wednesday, a Pinkvilla exclusive claimed that Karan is all set to turn Dhadak into a franchise. It quoted a source as saying, Dhadak was essentially an intense story of love, with two protagonists fighting society to stay together. The filmmaker believes that this segment of going against all odds for love has the potential to yield franchise value. After considering several subjects, the filmmaker has given a green signal to a subject which deserves to be a Dhadak sequel.
The article also claimed that the film would be directed by debutant director Shazia Iqbal and that both Siddhant and Tripti were excited to feature in the raw and intense love story. It is not yet clear whether Dhadak 2 is being made under any other production house or not.
Karan is currently gearing up for the release of his/her directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. It stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra. The film marks his/her return to direction after the 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. It will be released in theaters on July 28.
